Teddy was born on 26th May 1996. I started putting him in the ring as soon as the 1997 show season started, although he wasn't doing proper heelwork at that time, and I just bounced him round the ring with the toy in his mouth for most of it. I let him have a proper go at working a round in July 1997. He finished 7th at his first attempt at Novice and came 3rd at his second
attempt. After that, I pulled him out of the ring for a few weeks because the weather suddenly became unbearably hot and he wasn't coping well with the heat. The next time I put him in the ring, he won Novice. He was just 15 months old. I was so proud of him.
Here is a rundown of the wins Teddy has had so far, with some of the judge's reports:
1997
31st August 1997 - Ditton Championship Show
Judge - Alison Williams
1st in Novice
"Fifteen months old and what a babe! He was gorgeous. A lovely red and white boy that loved his Mum. Lovely attentive heelwork, with handler and dog completing the round with style and accuracy. The present in the recall was naughty and he had a messy pick-up in retrieve but he still managed to hold onto the lead all day. Well done. I'm sure the second win
will be soon in coming. Lost HOL ½, HF ½, Rec 1, Ret ½, Total 2½."
16th November 1997 - North West Kent Limited Show
Judge - Eileen Bright
1st in Novice
"A handsome red and white collie who maintained his attention and held a constant heelwork position. Just minor inaccuracies but very pleasing to watch. Lost 2½."
1998
5th July 1998 - Southern Border Collie Club Open Show
Judge - Gordon Hannam
1st in "A"
"This is a well matched team, at ease with each other, working at a steady pace and Teddy giving good attention. Lost 2."
16th August 1998 - Ditton Championship Show
Judge - Maurice Sage
1st in Novice
"This pair worked very well. I have seen them work before but today they hardly put a foot/paw wrong. It was a pleasure to watch. They also went on to win the 5-way Novice-Winners Run-off. Lost 1½."
1999
13th February 1999 - Thurrock Limited Show
Judge - Robert Harlow
1st in "A"
18th April 1999 - The Southern GSD Club Open Show
Judge - Daphne White
1st in "A"
"Worked beautifully with lovely style. Lost 1½."
1st May 1999 - Buckinghamshire Canine Society Open Show
Judge - Tasmin Wallace
1st in "A"
"What a pleasure to watch, just a couple of crooked sits and a fumble in retrieve were the only faults today."
15th May 1999 - Brixton DTC Open Show
Judge - Roy Newman
1st in "A"
"Super round Sharon, your win secured with a very confident clear scent. I know that you are doing well at the moment and I hope it continues throughout the season. I know your Mum would have been very proud of you. Lost 3½."
16th May 1999 - North West Kent DTC Open Show
Judge - Jennie Heard
1st in "A"
"Congratulations on your 5th win in this class. By far the "star" of the class today. To finish with a clear scent just added to the delightful round that Teddy had worked. Lost 1½."
7th August 1999 - Wimbledon DTS Open Show
Judge - Janice Abbott
1st in "C"
"Congratulations Sharon. Worked in the running order and I know you were surprised to be still in the running at the end of the day. Lovely sendaway and a very good scent. Very well handled. Lost 6¾."

26th September 1999 - Medway Working Trials & Obedience Club Open Show
Judge - Maureen Shelley
1st in "B"
"Although this is Teddy's first "B" win, he is no stranger to "C" having already won one. Sharon's dedication has brought her and Teddy to this level and I predict an even more successful time next year. Lost 4½."
