 Teddy was born on 26th May 1996. I started putting him in the ring as soon as the 1997 show season started, although he wasn't doing proper heelwork at that time, and I just bounced him round the ring with the toy in his mouth for most of it. I let him have a proper go at working a round in July 1997. He finished 7th at his first attempt at Novice and came 3rd at his second
attempt. After that, I pulled him out of the ring for a few weeks because the weather suddenly became unbearably hot and he wasn't coping well with the heat. The next time I put him in the ring, he won Novice. He was just 15 months old. I was so proud of him.
Here is a rundown of the wins Teddy has had so far, with some of the judge's reports:
1997
31st August 1997 - Ditton Championship Show

"Fifteen months old and what a babe! He was gorgeous. A lovely red and white boy that loved his Mum. Lovely attentive heelwork, with handler and dog completing the round with style and accuracy. The present in the recall was naughty and he had a messy pick-up in retrieve but he still managed to hold onto the lead all day. Well done. I'm sure the second win

"This pair worked very well. I have seen them work before but today they hardly put a foot/paw wrong. It was a pleasure to watch. They also went on to win the 5-way Novice-Winners Run-off. Lost 1½."

26th September 1999 - Medway Working Trials & Obedience Club Open Show

"Although this is Teddy's first "B" win, he is no stranger to "C" having already won one. Sharon's dedication has brought her and Teddy to this level and I predict an even more successful time next year. Lost 4½."

On 16th September 2000, Teddy qualified to work Championship 'C' by gaining a 2nd place in Open 'C', to add to the other two 2nd places he'd gained in the summer, and the win that he had in 1999. His first ticket show was
at the NATS championship show at New Bingley Hall, Stafford on 14th January
2001. He did a lovely round losing only 11½ and could have come 4th but unfortunately failed scent. In the Open 'C' class at the same show, he did a lovely round and a clear scent and won the class.
