JODIE (Detania Please Don't Tease)

This is Jodie.

Jodie was born in August 1994 and died aged 13 in September 2007.  She was the only bitch I’d trained and I don’t think I’d be tempted to have another. She was very stubborn and strong-willed, definitely the top-dog at home, keeping the boys in check.

If Bovva and Teddy were playing tuggy with a toy and making a bit of noise, Jodie would take the toy away from them and lie on it to stop them playing with it..

Jodie doesn't want to play any more !Jo taking the toy off into the bushesWhen out with the  dogs in the park, throwing a toy for them to fetch, Jodie would tire quickly due to her arthritis and would  take the toy off into the bushes so that the others couldn't  play with it any more!

Jodie, Xmas 2000In the obedience ring, Jodie was very inconsistent, she could sometimes do wonderful heelwork but at  other times she made it look like she'd never had a day's training in her life.

In 1999 I changed Jodie's training methods and had a go at clicker training her, which she responded to for a while and she won 3 Novice classes but she was still very difficult to work and very unpredictable. Also, she was beginning to suffer from arthritis, so I retired her from the obedience ring.

Jodie & Scampi

The kitten in the picture on the left is Scampi.

Jodie was quite young when we got Scampi and they became really great friends. Jodie would wash Scampi at every opportunity and leave her absolutely soaking wet, but Scampi didn't mind and always went back for more.

Sadly Scampi went missing in November 1997 and was never found. She was a great little cat, a typical “naughty tortie” with loads of character. It was very upsetting not knowing if she had been killed in a road accident or attacked by dogs (no body was ever found) or whether she had jumped in the back of a van and was driven off to a strange area.
