Hobby's Wins

On the left is a photo of Mum working Hobby.  They adored each other, and together they won 4 Beginner classes.  They might have won another one, but Mum gave up a run-off for 1st place to a lady who had been in Beginners for 17 years.  I can't remember who that person was, but I know that the win gave her the confidence to "go for it" and a couple of weeks later, she won a Novice.  Mum was as pleased about that as she would have been if she'd won herself.

Here is a rundown of what Hobby won, with the judges' comments:

1992

3rd May 1992 - Harlow & District DTS Open Show
Judge - Derek Howard
1st in Beginners
"A lovely attentive dog. A competent round, handler transmitted her calm approach to the dog. A lot more to come from this inexperienced pair. Lost 1¼."

1993

9th May 1993 - North West Kent DTC Open Show
Judge - Pauline Hannam
1st in Beginners
"A nice steady and controlled round with the handler helping her dog all the way. The ¼ lost was for a 'jump for joy' on the last lap of Heel Free. I understand that this win puts you out of Beginners. Well done and good luck in the higher classes with your special little dog. Lost ¼."

30th May 1993 - Southern Alsatian Training Society Champ Show
Judge - Tony Davis
1st in Beginners
"A very smart round from dog and handler. Lost 1½."

5th June 1993 - Hertford & District DTS Open Show
Judge - Carole Moorse
1st in Beginners
"A lovely round from Hobby helped by his much improved handler. I know Doreen is on a winning streak at the moment, having already won 3 Beginners. Many congratulations and good luck in 'A'. Lost 2."

1996

27th May 1996 - St Edwards DTC Open Show
Judge - Jennie Heard
1st in Novice
"Congratulations, the only dog in the line-up not to have a run-off. Worked by Sharon and it was a much better round than the week before. Heel on lead being one of the best exercises. First out of 47 is some going. Lost 2¼."

26th August 1996 - Ditton DTC Champ Show
Judge - John Donkin
1st in Novice
"Congratulations on a very nice win. Mum's dog worked by Sharon, who did it all wrong by winning. Never mind, you will both have to put on your running shoes. The exercise will do you good! Best of the day. Well done. Lost 3."
